A boat carrying mourners from Azizanya to Azizakpe in the Volta Region has capsized. According to sources, more than 20 passengers on board have been confirmed dead, but rescue teams are on a mission to save the rest.
, Mr. Daniel Adzakpa, the Assembly member of Azizakpe Electoral Area, confirmed the disaster.
He did indicate that on Saturday, a Storm was experienced in the morning, why the boat was ferrying the inhabitants of the area to a funeral.
Mr. Adzakpa added that, the standard practice is that, a boat must not have more than 25 passengers on board, but on this fateful day, there were more than 25 passengers on-board.
