Does the school you are placed in really matter?
No, not always. The Ghanaeducation.org team does not believe that your ward attending the best schools due to the prestige attached to it will make them excel in SHS. Students have attended schools presumed to be low-grade schools and passed their WASSCE. Others went to the “grade A” schools and still failed their WASSCE.
The Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, Mr Kofi Asare following the release of the 2020 SHS placement has encouraged candidates to welcome and accept any school they were automatically placed by CSSPS.
“There are many scammers parading as SHS Placement Contractors, promising to change your ward’s school for you. Note that once auto-placed, you cannot change your school,” Mr. Kofi Asare stated.
“Don’t fall victim to these scammers! They did it to many teachers during the teacher postings. They took GH 2,000 each and left them stranded,”
Mr Kofi Asare said he attended Benkum SHS, even though he lived near the all-boys and winners of the 2020 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (Presec), Legon.
For him, the school does not matter, it’s all about the attitude of the student.
“No school is bad; I attended Benkum SHS, even though I lived near Pressec, Legon. It’s all about attitude-student; parent,” He stated on social media.
It all depends on the student’s focus and mentality. The desire to succeed and working hard while being disciplined in any school can propel the student to excel.
We also advise parents and students with genuine challenges to contact the GES through the numbers below.
Do not fall for the promises that your ward’s school can be changed through the back door at a fee.
