The November 2021 National Standardized Test which is the first edition of the national assessment will be administered by WAEC for Basic 4 pupils.
This was disclosed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Adutwum at the 21 National Education Week Program.
At the event under the theme “Reimagining education for national transformation,” Dr. Adutwum indicate that the ministry is looking forward to securing 90% reading proficiency among basic four pupils after the assessment.
While announcing the assessment administrator he said:” So after the conduct of the 2021 national standardized test by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), we expect over 90% of primary four students in the country to be proficient in English,”
The outbreak of the novel coronavirus created more learning gab in countries across the world including Ghana which has further increased the learning gap of the country. The ministry of education anticipates the 2021 National Standardized Examinations, Ghana’s learning poverty index will be reduced.
The test will afford the Ministry of Education to assess the reading capabilities of learners in Primary 4 among others.
Speaking at the event, the Minister of Education revealed that the test will provide national data on whether primary 4 pupils can read or not help the government in confronting challenges facing the country’s education sector.
Schools are expected to be provided with sample questions to prepare learners for the examination.
