2022 BECE starts in 17 Days - Are our candidates ready?

The 2022 Basic Education Certificate Examination – BECE, starts in 17 days across the country.  The examination to be administered by WAEC to all Junior High School students in their final year will start on 17th October 2022. This year’s BECE will be the 32nd edition since the examination commenced in 1990.

The 2022 BECE will be written by both Private and School Candidates at the same time. The 2examination will start with Social Studies on Monday 17th October 2022 in the Morning, and end with Information Communication Technology, which will be taken in the afternoon of Day one. Seven other subjects will be written from Tuesday 18th October to Friday, 21st October 2022.

The examination is expected to end on Friday with the French Language as the final paper. For schools that do not write the French paper, the candidates will complete the examination on Thursday, 20th October.

The big question is whether candidates are ready for the examination.

2022 BECE starts in 17 Days – Are our candidates ready?

Schools and teachers will have to map up strategies to bring to an end their revisions so that candidates can have some time to also do their personal final revisions and get into the examination mood.

A typical tradition of the BECE is that, on the last working day before the next Monday, candidates will be expected to visit their examination centres in the morning or midday to get to know their examination hall and the sitting arrangement as well. This tradition is expected to take place on Friday,14th October 2022.

This also offers candidates an opportunity to soak in the pressure, and offer prayers for divine interventions ahead of the mock.

It is a special day and provides candidates with a weird feeling, a blend of anxiousness, fear, and excitement.

After the examination, candidates who pass and obtain very good raw scores will be placed in various secondary schools to pursue their secondary education programmes.

This is the time for parents who have failed to inspire confidence in their candidates to start inspiring them. Candidates need love and care now.

Their health and well-being must be paramount. All negative statements from parents and teachers must cease if they have not.
