Ghana will make history when it hosts the 2023 Africa Games Accra, Kumasi, and Cape Coast. Prof Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, met with the Minister of Sports, Honourable Mustapha Ussif, on Tuesday to discuss plans to use Legon University as the centre for the Africa Games in 2023.
The Sports Ministry delegation examined continuing construction at different sports facilities on campus, including the UG Sports Stadium, the Rugby Field, and the Warm-up Track during a visit to the campus.
“The Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nana Aba Appiah Amfo, this morning, received a delegation from the Ministry of Youth and Sports. The meeting was to discuss plans to use the University of Ghana as the hub for the 2023 Africa Games.”
“The team inspected ongoing works at various sports facilities on Campus: UG Sports Stadium, the Rugby Field, and Warm-up Track. They were taken around by Gianluca Ramella, Deputy Manager, Consar Ltd (in charge of the projects).”
The meeting with UG Management comes after Minister of Youth and Sports, Hon Ussif, stated during the African Games Technical Committee meeting that the government is dedicated to hosting the African Games in 2023.
The sports minister emphasized that the government is dedicated to hosting the African Games in 2023, is working around the clock to guarantee that we have the finest African Games ever.

The 2023 Africa Games hosting regions
The 13th African Games will be hosted in three cities in Ghana (Accra, Kumasi, and Cape Coast) in 2023 on dates yet to be finalized and conveyed to participating African countries.

The games will be decentralized for the second time in history, following a process that began with the previous edition in Morocco.
