2023 School Placement (CSSPS Portal) Goes Live on Monday: Do you know the websites?
All is set for the 2023 School Placement Portal to go live on Monday, November 20, 2023. According to the Ministry of Education (MoE), the portal for checking school placement will be accessible to the general public on November 20th. This means the site will load globally, just like any other website.
Per the variable information made available to the public, nearly 200,000 BECE candidates who sat for the 2023 BECE will have to use self-placement, while a little over 300,000 have been placed in one of the eleven schools they chose during the school selection phase.
2023 School Placement (CSSPS Portal) Goes Live on Monday: Do you know the websites?
https://www.cssps.org/ and https://www.cssps.gov.gh/ are the two websites on which the MoE loads the BECE placements each year. Keep an eye on these websites.
When the portal is accessible online. It simply means MoE is ready for the release of the school placements for 2023 BECE candidates at any moment from the time it goes live.
What you need to know and have before checking the school placements
- Parents must not allow cafe operators to choose schools for their wards using self-placement without their consent.
- Do not choose a school in the self-placement database just because your friend chose it.
- Do not choose a programme because that is the only one available in a school. If you are not interested in studying science but the Scheicne programme is the only programme available in a school you prefer to attend, do not choose that science programme to get into that school. The programme is not going to be changed for you when you get to SHS1.
- Parents should have a keen interest in the selection of schools into which their wards are placed using the self-placement module.
- You need your index number, but you must add 23 to the index number so that you can access your school placement status. For example, if your index number is 0101259421, you must add 23 to it to get 010125942123. Without adding 23, you will not be able to get the school placement results, even if you have a valid school placement checker.
- You need a valid school placement checker to check the placement.
- Candidates who got an aggregate of 25–48 also need more hope, luck, and prayers since the chances that they will not be placed are higher.
- Students with an aggregate of 25–48 are advised to list at least 3 category C schools or have them in mind before going to check their placement. This suggestion is based on the fact that, once they are not placed, they are likely to be required to do self-placement. Having these schools in mind will allow such candidates to take advantage of the self-placement module and get placed in a school early. The more you delay using the self-placement module, the more chances there are that you may not get a preferred school, accommodation, or even a programme of preference.
Not that. Often, you can choose and change schools using the self-placement module; however, once you start the admissions process and visit a given school, you cannot change the school you self-placed in.

Note that if you choose a school using self-placement and change it, the chances of not getting another school are higher, and you may not also get the earlier school you chose and dropped since other students across the country may choose that school as soon as you drop it.
