28-Year-Old Woman Burnt To Death At Madina-Ritz Junction
A 28-year-old woman was found burnt to death on Sunday afternoon after a fire broke out at Ritz Junction near Madina in Accra, Ghana. The fire completely burnt the 28-year-old woman.
The fire razed multiple wooden structures and metal containers used for both commercial and residential purposes.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said that the woman, who has been identified as Rose Minta, was believed to be sick and bedridden at the time of the fire. Her charred body was found in one of the burnt wooden structures.
The GNFS said that four fire engines were deployed to the scene to contain the fire, but it was too late to save Minta. The cause of the fire is still unknown.
This fire comes just days after another major fire broke out at the Makola Market, one of the largest markets in West Africa. That fire caused millions of dollars in damage and displaced hundreds of people.
The cause of the Makola Market fire is also unknown. However, both fires have raised concerns about fire safety in Accra.
The GNFS has urged residents to be more careful with fire and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
