As John Dramani Mahama unveils his election 2024 running mate, we take a look at five qualities John Mahama’s running mate needs to silence Dr. Bawumia and the NPP.
If these qualities are lacking in the final choice, the NDC and John Mahama will have so much to do. The opposition NDC needs a running mate who understands the Ghanaian economy and appreciates the current challenges to be able to add value to Mahama’s campaign.
The running mate must bring to the table not just popularity but also a high level of expertise in the areas of governance, finance and economics, and technology, which have been the driving force of Dr. Bawumia and the NPP’s campaign before the 2016 election to date.
The individual must also have some firebrand and unique capabilities that are rare with Bawumia. These capabilities can aid the NDC in introducing a new topic of discussion into the 2024 election campaign.
For instance, someone with a blend of knowledge in IT and business can create more problems for the NPP and Bawumia than an individual with vast knowledge in education and other fields.
The 2024 election will be won on issues relating to technology and salvaging the Ghanaian economy, which is in tatters.
5 Qualities A John Mahama Running Mate Needs to Silence Bawumia and the NPP
- He or she must be able to counter the digitalization drive of Dr. Bawumia and provide alternatives that are smarter, more realistic, and more practical.
- He or she must be younger than Mahama and be appealing to the youth.
- He or she must have a depth of knowledge in economics, governance, and communication skills to shake off any antics from Dr. Bawumia.
- He or she must be blameless with no corruption-related issues to silence the followers of the ruling NPP in this area.
- He or she must be free from all forms of corruption-related issues or scandals to appeal to the voters.
In addition to the above, the running mate must have impeccable leadership skills that can be practically felt by Ghanaians. Leadership challenges in Ghana amongst politicians have remained low, with many politicians taking over positions without truly having what it takes to lead and be leaders.
