5 Ways 2025 BECE Candidates are Preparing to Fail Early
Do you know that some 2025 BECE candidates are preparing to fail? Well, you may think it’s too early to make such conclusions, but at the same time, others are already preparing to pass.
Let me put the question another way: Do you know that some students are already setting themselves up to fail the 2025 BECE?
This post will explain the signs of this behavior and provide suggestions on what needs to be done. You have a choice: do what is right now and maintain it over the next six months, or continue on the wrong path toward failing the BECE. When the results are released, everything will make sense.
5 Ways 2025 BECE Candidates Are Preparing to Fail
It is sad that while teachers, parents, and schools are planning how to get students ready for the 2024 BECE, there are students who, by their actions and choices, are preparing to fail.
#1. Chasing After Leaked Mock Examination Questions Is a Sign You’re Preparing to Fail
Some BECE candidates for 2025 are already looking for leaked mock exam questions from service providers that supply them to schools.
Such students think they are being smart; however, they are only working toward their future failure at the BECE in July 2025.
There is no long-term benefit to such behavior, even if they manage to get these leaked mock questions. This move will not help them truly prepare for the BECE.
#2. Thinking You Have Enough Time Now Is a Sign You Are Getting Ready for Failure
Again, some would-be candidates think the examination is still six months away and that they can start being serious with their studies later.
However, from experience, students who start preparing early tend to do better. They gradually cover topics and manage stress. This way, they don’t have to cram a lot of material as the exam approaches.
Students who are already in preparation mode should continue. Those who are yet to start are encouraged to sit up.
Parents and teachers should start conditioning the minds of final-year students to revise their Form One and Two notes now because July 2025 is just around the corner.
The advice now is: start studying early and consistently. Don’t wait until the last minute to cram for exams. Make a study schedule and stick to it.
#3. If You Don’t Have a Personal Learning Timetable, You Are Not Getting Ready for a Good Result
Students who don’t have a personal study timetable for after school are indirectly preparing to fail the BECE. If you don’t have a timetable, it’s time to get one.
Allocate more time to subjects that challenge you and gradually revise.
Get help from your colleagues as well. Serious JHS3 students should, by now, be part of a serious study group of no more than five members.
Such a study group must prioritize seriousness. Members should learn and reteach their colleagues. Teaching others helps students retain more of what they’ve learned.

#4. Students Who Are Focused on Understanding, Not Just Memorizing, Are Getting Ready to Pass Their BECE
It’s too early for any serious BECE candidate to start rote learning, which is known in Ghana as “Chew, Pour, Pass, and Forget.”
This method may help you pass a test in the short term, but it won’t help you retain information in the long run. You may forget it soon after the test and will have to memorize it all over again.
Instead, focus on understanding the concepts you’re learning and how they apply to real-world situations. This will help you retain the information longer and perform better on exams.
#5. Students Who Are Already Attempting to Solve Past Questions Are on Their Way to Achieving Good Results
While there’s no guarantee you will receive the same questions during the BECE, practicing past questions will give you a chance to test your comprehension of how to respond to questions and understand the examiner’s expectations.
Using past questions to study is like having a treasure map; they show you the most commonly examined topics and question types.
Attempting past questions helps reduce test anxiety and builds confidence. Practicing old questions mimics the actual exam experience.
Preparing for an exam by answering practice questions is like preparing for a game. You learn to solve problems more effectively, apply what you’ve learned, and pinpoint where your comprehension may be lacking.
Parents and schools must ensure these materials are available for learning and preparation for the BECE, starting as early as now. Get your students past questions and answers right after reading this.
Just in case you’re engaging in any of the negative behaviors described in this post, now is the time to change your focus and direction.
