WAEC as part of its efforts to name and shame teachers, schools and candidates engaged in the 2023 BECE examination malpractices has published the names of all Junior High Schools cheating in 2023 BECE.
Names of all Junior High Schools cheating in 2023 BECE
Per the WAEC, the following schools have been found to be engaging in all forms of examination malpractices.
- St John Bosco Basic School
- Trinity Lutheran School
- Oxford School Complex in Dunkwa-On-Offin
- Ashanti Nkoranza D/A JSS
The names of these schools popped up when the Head of Public Affairs for WAEC, John Kapi was interviewed by the Daily Graphic.
He disclosed that WAEC was aided by the country’s security officers to arrest seven teachers who were engaged in leaking of examination questions. According to him, one of the arrested seven teachers was an invigilator in the ongoing 2023 BECE.
The teachers who have been arrested were picked for their infractions at different centres where the BECE was being administered by WAEC.
According to the report, those arrested were either found solving the BECE questions or were seen in possession of phones and tables which had answers to the questions of the ongoing BECE.
“One of the teachers, Flora Ashietey of the St John Bosco Basic School, was found allegedly with a tablet containing questions and answers to the Basic Education Certificate Examination at the Trinity Lutheran School in Tema” the report indicated.
Kwarteng Asiedu Derick, who was an invigilator at the Ashanti Nkoranza D/A JSS, was caught allegedly with captured photos of the Integrated Science Paper Two that he had shared on a WhatsApp group called “Amabame Teachers Page” which had 21 participants.
Albert Adu-Gyan, a teacher at Oxford School Complex in Dunkwa-On-Offin, was apprehended while capturing images of the Religious and Moral Education questions he had answered in a classroom located on the Dunkwa Senior High Technical School premises.

Three other teachers were arrested at one of the examination centres at the Kwabenafori Exams Centre in Obuasi. They are currently in police custody in relation to a video circulated last Monday by the Educate Africa Institute (EAI).
The arrests come as a major blow to the integrity of the BECE, which is one of the most important examinations in Ghana. The Ghana Education Service (GES) has vowed to take strong action against any individual or group found to be involved in cheating.
A total of 2,137 supervisors, 2,000 supervisors and 21,027 invigilators are overseeing the administration of the BECE. The examination is scheduled to end on Friday, August 11, 2023.

If this is just the only schools named for malpractice , then you still have a very long way to go.
Not only in BECE but also in SSCE. Honestly, about 80% of our Schools commit all sort of malpractices. My children went to write exam in a school and they were surprised at the level of malpractices. I had to encourage them that they are special kids , and not to be discouraged by that act.
