The Ghana Police in an effort to ensure the safety of all persons has outlined six festive season security tips for the general public.
Christmas and New year festivities do not come without security issues and threats. To ensure the general public is aware of the threats that they face for personal wrong decisions and choices of others, the Ghana Police has given professional security advice to all t ensure the Christmas and New year are free of crime and its related activities.
6 Festive Security Tips: Christ and New Year Safety Tips
They include the following.
1. Travellers have been advised to avoid night travels during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
2. To ensure we prevent avoidable accidents that could lead to the loss of precious lives and properties, the police have advised drivers of public, private, and government vehicles to avoid overs-peeding.
3. At this time of the year when drivers cart goods to business districts, the police have cautioned that the overloading of such trucks should be avoided.
4. Drivers have also been advised to avoid stopping on lonely roads. For pedestrians, this means not being alone in secluded, quiet, or lonely roads where criminals could easily attack you.
5. Although Christmas is a season of giving and love, the police has cautioned drivers and travelers to avoid giving to and
receiving free rides from strangers.
6. Drunk driving is a major cause of road accidents hence drivers have been cautioned not to drink and drive. They are advised to wear their seat belts while also avoiding over-speeding.
When receiving or making a call in a car, and you are sitting by the right window, make sure the phone is held to your left ear. If you are sitting at the left window, receive or make calls using your right ear. Do not forget about this.
When browsing on your phone and sitting by the wind of a car, roll the glass up high to avoid losing your phone to phone snatchers.
Do not entertain guys who clean your screens in traffic because they may distract your attention whiles another is stealing a valuable with you in your car.
