All is set for the start of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), which begins on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025. According to statistics from the Ghana Education Services (GES), a total of 603,328 candidates will participate in the exams, which will end on Thursday, June 19th, 2025.
At a recent press conference, the Director-General of GES, Professor Ernest Davies, assured the public that all necessary preparations have been completed to ensure a smooth and incident-free examination period. He emphasised the importance of maintaining the integrity of the exams and warned that any invigilator, supervisor, or official involved in malpractice or misconduct will face immediate dismissal.
“We are not going to tolerate any compromise on the integrity of the examination. “Any supervisor, invigilator, or official who attempts to aid in any form of malpractice will be sanctioned without delay,” Prof. Davies stated.
The 600,000 plus candidates who are getting ready to to write the 2025 BECE are advised to obey the examination rules and ensure they do not create any troubles for themselves before, during and after the examination on each day.
The Director-General of GES called on teachers, parents, and community leaders to join hands in protecting the integrity of the BECE and Ghana’s education system.
He emphasised, “Eliminating examination malpractice is a shared responsibility. Together, we must ensure the future of our children is secure.”
Addressing school selection concerns, Prof. Davies reassured families that, even though the official deadline has passed, all candidates will still have the opportunity to choose their preferred Senior High Schools. This decision reflects GES’s dedication to fairness and equal access for every student.

The BECE is a key milestone in Ghana’s education, determining placements into Senior High Schools and technical institutions, with over 600,000 candidates expected to take part.
2025 June BECE Timetable
The examination starts on Wednesday, 11th June, 2025 with Social Studies followed by Computing.
On Thursday, 12th June, the examination enters day two with English Language and Career Technology papers.
On Friday, the 13th of June, the examination will see candidates writing Integrated Science and Ghanaian Language.
The examination will break for two days (Saturday and Sunday). This will be followed by the Mathematics and RME papers on Monday, 16th June, 2025.
French and Creative Arts and Design will be administered on 17th June 2025.
Most candidates will end the examination on 17th June 2025. While candidates writing Arabic will take their final paper (Arabic) on June 18th, 2025.
