79th Speech and Prize Giving Day at Aburi Girls Senior High School
Aburi Girls Senior High School has celebrated their 79th speech and prize giving day.
During the event,the government announced a restructuring of the national School Feeding Programme as part of a broader effort to strengthen food security, improve accountability and enhance nutrition among students. The announcement was delivered by the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, who represented the First Lady, Lordina Mahama, at the 79th Speech and Prize Giving Day.
The new policy, approved by Cabinet on November 7, 2025, grants the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) full responsibility for procuring six core grain and legume items: maize, gari, beans, peanuts, millet and soybeans.Nana Oye explained that the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO), working with the Ghana Commodity Exchange, will supply an additional twelve essential food items to all senior high schools across the country.
She further commended school authorities, alumni and parents for sustaining Aburi Girls’ legacy of excellence. She also announced a donation of GH¢20,000 on behalf of the First Lady and praised the 2000-year group of the Aburi Old Girls Association for financing the 79th anniversary celebrations and supporting the school’s legacy project. The event, themed “A Legacy of Light: Influencing Future Generations,” also served as a platform to highlight education reforms under President John Dramani Mahama’s administration.
The Deputy Chief of Staff referenced ongoing improvements to the Free Senior High School policy, major capital allocations to complete E-blocks, the introduction of the “No Fees, No Stress” free tertiary education initiative for first-year students, and new measures to enhance both teacher welfare and infrastructure expansion nationwide.
