With a three-decade career and over 34 albums to his name, Daddy Lumba has had an enormous impact on Ghanaian music and culture. He left a lasting legacy that has influenced generations and inspired millions in Africa and beyond.

Daddy Lumba made his debut in Ghanaian music in 1989 with “Yereye Aka Akwantuo Mu,” a collaboration with Nana Acheampong as part of the Lumba Brothers. This song highlighted the number of Ghanaian immigrants who first traveled abroad, echoing many Ghanaians’ experiences with migration and diaspora life.

The collaboration with Nana Acheampong proved to be a springboard for both musicians’ great careers. Yereye Aka Akwantuo Mu and his colleague Nana Acheampong released multiple successes under the moniker Lumba Brothers, establishing Daddy Lumba as a diverse and creative musician.
