Winners of the 4th Virtual CoderZ Robotic Competition meet Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, GES, and its leadership and presented their enviable awards to the education ministry.
The winners of the 4th RoboGroup CoderZ Robotic competition presented their awards to the Hon. Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum at his office on Wednesday 9th March 2022.
In attendance were the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service, Prof. Kwasi Opoku-Amankwa, the Deputy Director-General of GES in charge of Management Service, Lawyer Anthony Boateng, Deputy Director-General in charge of Quality and Access, Dr. Kwabena Bempah Tandoh and the Director of Science Education Unit, Mrs. Olivia Serwaa Opare.

Mfantsipim School won the Professional (PRO) category with Starters Technology winning the Junior category.
EKIS Montessory, a school, based in Amasaman won the Novice category.
The Director-General in his address encouraged the students not to ignore their other subject areas as they compete in Robotics at the international level. He further advised them to help solve societal problems by applying the science learned.

The Hon Minister on his part congratulated the Winners of the 4th Virtual CoderZ Robotic Competition and reiterated his commitment to make STEM Education a topmost priority in our educational system.
In a related development, the government has commenced the building of STEM Junior High Schools to strategically shift Ghana’s Education direction into STEM to help in the country’s 4th Industrial revolution take off. These schools when operationalized will focus on SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING, AND MATHEMATICS.
The government has cut sod for the commencement of at least two of such schools with more locations to be made public soon.

Private schools in Ghana are beginning to embrace STEM education as many of such schools in Accra and Kumasi have introduced STEM, and its related practical lessons to learners at the basic school level along with STEM clubs.
These efforts are geared towards building the interest of learners in STEM at an early stage.
