HISTORY

In 1951, Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, set up Yaa Asantewaa Girls’ Senior High. The Ghana Education Trust gave money to start the school in 1960.

Yaa Asantewaa is named after the Queen mother of Ejisu Yaa Asantewaa, who led a war against the British colonists.
