2023 WASSCE: 9 Papers To Be Given Out To Students In Advance Before The Actual Date

The 2023 WASSCE is just around the corner and even though the papers will officially begin on Monday, 31st July, 2023, some papers will be given out to students in advance. This means, candidates will receive the papers two weeks before the actual dates on the 2023 WASSCE timetable.

According to the 2023 WASSCE timetable, examination question papers including; Basketry, Graphic Design, Leatherwork, Ceramics, Sculpture, Picture Making, Textiles and Jewellery will be given to candidates before the start of the exams. The papers will be written on Monday, 31st July, 2023 through Friday 18th August, 2023, but the papers will be given to candidates on Monday, 17th July, 2023(two weeks earlier)

The exact date for the delivery of question papers to candidates will be
communicated to them through their schools.

Also, General Knowledge In Arts(GKA) paper 3 will be given to candidates two weeks before the start of the exams.

According to WAEC, before it sets questions for the WASSCE or BECE, the GES teaching syllabus and the WAEC Examinations syllabus must be developed. After this, WAEC will need to train knowledgeable and professionals who will be setting the questions.

Below are the procedures(STEP 1)

1. Development of Teaching syllabus by the Ghana Education Service and Examinations syllabus by WAEC.
2. Training of Item Writers
3. Commissioning of ltem Writers/knowledgeable persons/experts/professionals in the subject areas are commissioned to set questions).

STEP 2

1. Trial testing of Items

2. Moderation of Items by experts

3. Compilation of papers by Subject Officers

4. Type setting, proof reading and editing

5. Printing of question papers

6. Accreditation /Recognition of Schools

STEP 3

1. Registration of candidates (This is done online) – School candidates are registered by Directors of Education (BECE) Heads of School (WASSCE) – Private candidates register individually.

2. Centre Arrangements for conduct of examinations

3. Submission of Continuous Assessment Scores (school examinations only)

STEP 4

1. Briefing Courses for Heads of school and Examination Officials

2. Sensitisation programme for schools/candidates

3. Packing of confidential materials
