2023 BECE and WASSCE not cancelled: GES both exams will be conducted as scheduled

The Ministry of Education has denied claims that the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) will be cancelled due to government indebtedness to the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).

GES assures 2023 BECE and WASSCE is not cancelled: What The GES Siad and More

The Ministry’s comment comes after the Minority in Parliament raised concerns about the issue. However, the Deputy Minister for Education, Ntim Fordjour, has said that the government has paid an amount of GH¢‎40 million to WAEC for the administration of the two examinations this year.

He also said that all arrangements to begin the BECE on August 7, 2023, are in place and nothing has changed.

The West African Exams Council has also cautioned members of the general public, particularly students, to disregard purported confirmed topics for the 2023 WASSCE and BECE circulating on social media platforms.

The WAEC said the so-called WAEC confirmed topics are not related to the 2023 Basic Education Certificate Examination and West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
