Why GES Director General Visits Selected Schools In Western Region

The appointment of the new Director General of Ghana Education Service GES, Dr. Eric Nkansah raised a lot of issues in Ghana. It can be recalled that some sections of teachers kicked against his appointment. However, his appointment defeated the opposition. Dr. Eric Nkansah, GES Director General visits selected schools in some parts of the Western Region in Ghana.
Many people are eager to know the real motive behind the visits of the Director General of Ghana Education Service (GES) to some of the selected schools in the Western Region of Ghana.

The main motive behind Dr. Eric Nkansah’s visits to some basic schools in Ghana was to welcome fresh pupils. The Director General of the Ghana Education Service is of the view that the foundation of education depends on the younger ones, therefore his visits to some selected schools in the Western Region to usher newly promoted pupils from kindergarten to basic one (1). This initiative of Dr. Eric Nkansah will help to motivate the students on the need to always come to school. A lot of items were shared among all the pupils in the schools visited by the GES Director General.

Also, a little bit of supervision and monitoring was done by Dr. Eric Nkansah at the selected schools he visited. Even though the main reason was not to check on teachers’ and headmasters’ attendance at schools, his presence at those schools could compel him to ask about the teachers and headmasters who were present and those who were absent. It has been observed that some teachers do not go to school on the exact date of resuming. Therefore GES Director General’s visits to selected schools in the Western Region of Ghana are a wake-up call to all Ghanaian teachers to always report to school on time as scheduled by the Ghana Education Service in the school calendar.
