HRRG Calls for Renewed Action to End Human Rights Violations on International Human Rights Day 2023

In commemoration of International Human Rights Day 2023, Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG), a leading human rights organization, has issued a powerful call for action. Emphasizing the theme “Freedom, Equality, and Justice for All,” HRRG urges individuals and institutions to move beyond mere words and commit to tangible efforts to uphold human rights in Ghana.

HRRG highlights several critical challenges that require immediate attention:

• Threats to Freedom of Expression: Journalists and activists face increasing censorship, harassment, and restrictions, jeopardizing their right to express dissent and hold power accountable.
• Police Brutality: Excessive use of force by law enforcement raises grave concerns about the safety and security of citizens. Comprehensive police reform is crucial to ensure accountability and protect fundamental rights.
• Discrimination: Deep-rooted prejudices based on gender, ethnicity, and other factors continue to hinder Ghana’s progress towards a truly inclusive society.
