John Dramani Mahama, the ex-President of Ghana, has made a strong promise to Ghanaians that made them happy. Check what Mahama said that made ghanaians happy.
He promised to eliminate the burdensome 1% electronic levy if he is elected back into power. According to him, this tax is crooked and hinders the progress towards a cashless society that the nation has been striving for.
He said, “it is inequitable tax, it’s not a fair tax, it prevents people from the uptake of our moving towards a cashless society and so when NDC comes, we will remove that tax. I’ve said it bluntly.”
He also suggested that the government should readily provide subsidies on data for students, emphasizing the importance of educational institutions setting up wifi hotspots in designated areas within their campuses. This endeavor would significantly enhance students’ academic endeavors.
He announced, “I don’t see anything wrong with the government subsidizing access to wifi for public institutions like the University of Ghana and other educational institutions. There should be hotspots where you can go and stand and do data and then go back and relax

The former president appears to have a strong dislike for the introduction of the E-levy by the current government. In an event that took place in May 2022, John Dramani Mahama made a pledge to relieve Ghanaians from the burden of paying the contentious Electronic Transfer Levy (E-levy) if his party emerges victorious in the 2024 elections.
