Release our wards withheld 2023 WASSCE results: Over 600 parents invade WAEC’s office
More than 600 parents who are not happy with WAEC’s continuous withholding of the WAEC WASSCE results of their wards have invaded the office of WAEC in Sunyani to demand the release of the results. WAEC withheld the results of some candidates for the 2023 WASSCE over alleged examination malpractices. At a meeting with the parents of the affected students, the examination body said the only option left was for their wards to rewrite the papers withheld by the council.
This decision by WAEC infuriated the parents, who have invested heavily in their children’s education.
The parents maintained that their wards cannot be blamed and hence will not allow them to rewrite any paper.

The spokesperson for the parents, Mr. Agyemang Prempeh, disclosed to Adom News that the children have done nothing wrong to warrant such punishment since they did not leak WAEC’s papers.
He blamed the invigilators who were assigned to ensure law and order and the observance of the exam rules during the said examination.

Mr. Prempeh furthered that innocent children must not be used as scapegoats to cover up the inefficiency of WAEC and punish the students for the negligence of these officers.
The parents whose children are still not sure of their faith have called on the government to intervene since other students who completed SHS in 2023 are already in tertiary institutions.
According to Adom News, efforts to get a reaction from WAEC officials in the region proved futile.
