5 New GES Reopening Updates for Public Basic Schools
Ghana Education News | September 2021 | Teachers in public schools have received 5 new GES reopening updates to guide their activities in the third term of the 2021 academic year.
This was contained in a letter dated 2nd September 2021 and copied to all heads of basic schools in the Denkyembour District.
What are the 5 New GES Reopening Updates for Public Basic Schools?
The letter further instructed headteachers to ensure full compliance with the directives
The following are updates that teachers and headteachers must take note of.
Instructional Hours
According to the directive, instructional hours shall be from 8:00 am to 3:00 for all pupils in KG to JHS3. Prior to this directive, learners in KG-Basic were closing earlier due to the covid-19. Now all pupils will close at the same time.
Standardized Test
The GES has indicated that basic four pupils will write the first-ever National Standardized test in Numeracy and Literacy in November 2021. This update is a reminder to all schools as it had been announced earlier by the Minister of Education.

National Standardized Test
Medium of Instruction per the directive will be English Langue at all levels including KG however, Ghanaian Language shall be taught as a subject.
Common Core Programme (CCP) JHS
Common Core Programme (CCP) JHS according to the GES directive will commence in 2022. This directive is suggesting that teachers can use the old curriculum for teaching at the basic schools.
BECE School Selection
BECE candidates are expected to select Six schools during the school selection phase ahead of the 2021 BECE to be conducted in November this year. This means the 2021 batch will select one more Senior High School than previous batches.
