A tribute to my father, Dr. Mughees Uddin Sheikh
Entering into a country rich in culture, of contrast and drama one could sense one’s feelings being expressed through the awe-inspiring nature.
My land paints a person’s joy and love, a person’s melancholy and sorrow. History lives here and the soul of the cities could be found alongside the historic forts. It’s ice-capped mountains and big-hearted people are much admired and liked.
What attracts tourists the most are the snow clad peaks, lush green meadows and turquoise lakes. The romantic cluster of farms alongside the coastlines and in between the towering mountains are like a string of pearls lined across the beautiful cascading rivers.
The stormy seas and the wild lapping waves gain energy from hot summers forming a perfect resort to spend a lazy summer – an ideal vacation for heat lovers. One can spot tourists and locals enjoying life at the inviting, endless beaches.

The succulent green grass equivalent to the idyllic green meadows are grazed by animals.
The delectable apples, berries and mangoes are bought and ate most by the locals. A sea of other fruits and vegetables are whereby seen and enjoyed by the general population in both rural and urban areas.
Mosques here are relics of a bygone era and their pillars soar silhouetted against the evening sky. They spire and attract many religious groups and tourists from across the globe. Of all the beauty ever seen, what flares even the most boring race is the magical light of the midnight sun. It reflects God and his beauty. The nature in general is used as a sports arena and that for recreation. It insists ramblers, hikers, mountain climbers, skiers and sky divers to carry on their expedition, their epic adventure of exploring their talents and what nature offers them.
