Adisadel College Dismisses Student Over Viral Violent Assault On Junior
Shocking video of an assault at Adisadel College has gone viral, leading to the expulsion of two final-year students involved. The incident happened on June 30, 2023, in one of the school’s Quaque House dormitories.
According to a school statement, the video has sparked a serious investigation, which will continue until the final decision of the Board of Governors and the Ghana Education Service (GES). The two perpetrators have been expelled from the institution as a result of their actions.
The primary perpetrator of the assault will be barred from taking the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) on campus. Instead, he must take the exam at a WAEC-approved location. The victim, on the other hand, will be sent home but must return to school to take the exams with a parent or guardian. It was revealed that the victim did not report the incident to school officials until the video caught their attention.
A third student involved in the incident, who was responsible for filming the video and distributing it online, will also face disciplinary action. He was given a one-week external suspension and will then serve a one-week internal suspension with labor. As part of the punishment, his cell phone will be confiscated.
All other students who were present during the assault but did not intervene or report the incident face internal suspension as a result of the incident.
Further action has been taken against the Quaque House’s housemaster and his assistants, who have been suspended indefinitely pending the outcome of GES investigations.
The seriousness of the incident has also resulted in the immediate suspension of the Quaque Housemaster and his assistants. Officials from the Ghana Education Service (GES) are conducting an independent investigation into the incident to ensure that the circumstances surrounding the assault are thoroughly investigated.
The video’s release has sparked widespread concern among the school’s massive old students association (Santaclausians), raising concerns about the school’s safety and discipline. Adisadel College’s prompt response to the incident demonstrates the institution’s commitment to providing a safe and conducive learning environment for all students.

We want evidence to prosecute cases properly, yet we frown on and punish the want who supplies us with the exact evidence we want. What is wrong with us as a nation? It is time we expunge that aspect of the law that criminalises people who took video evidence that led to identifying people who commit crimes. If the boy who took the video did not do so, would we have known the severity of what has happened? If he is punished for bringing the smartphone to school, I will accept it though I object to that stand taken by GES. I think the students can bring a phone but not use it during classes. In any case, they send phones to the “vacation classes” they attend in those same schools.
The government spent so much money installing cameras at intersections. What is the purpose? Those cameras cannot see everywhere so let us MODIFY THE LAW PLEASE!
