Alex began his professional football career in 2015-2016 with Udinese in the Italian Serie A. He only made two appearances and was later loaned out during his second and third seasons.

He was on loan at Spal for two years, spending his first season in Serie B. He eventually helped the club make it to Serie A the following season. Meret made a total of 45 appearances for Spal before leaving the club.

Alex Meret is currently with Napoli, having joined the club in 2018-2019. He has been with the Serie A club for about 5 years and counting, and he has made 116 appearances for the club.
