Bank Of Ghana Upgrades The One Ghana Cedi Coin
Bank of Ghana has added new security features to the GHC1 coin.
On Monday, December 12, 2022, the Bank will put the new GHC1 coin into circulation.
The coin is the same size, shape, and style as the current GHC1 coin. It has the Coat of Arms on the front and the Scale of Justice on the back.
The new GHC1 coin is made of gold on the outside and silver on the inside.
The coin has a very rough edge and a hidden image that shows up in the shape of a rectangle below the Scale of Justice on the back.
When the image is tilted, it changes from a radiating star to a symbol for one Ghana cedi that is in between two stars.
Both the old GHC1 coins and the new ones will be used until the old ones are slowly taken out of circulation. The Bank tries to get people to accept and use the coins.
