Hi Judy,
It has been a while you heard from me hence my decision to write to you. I have no doubt that you are doing excellently well and your studies are progressing sturdily as you prepare for the 2021 BECE.
Kukua and James sent their warmest greetings and Aunty Rosina has promised to bring them over to Kumasi in December during the Christmas break.
The main reason for writing this letter is to inform you that, I have won a 2-year scholarship to study STEM-related subjects in the USA. I won the scholarship after winning a STEM quiz organized in our constituency by the Member of Parliament. I represented my school, Joy Kids Academy, and won the keenly contested finals.
Although I am excited about this prize and the fact that, I will be in the use for 2 years, I am equally sad because I will miss you a lot.
I will miss two things with regards to you once I travel outside Ghana.
Firstly, I will miss the weekend classes and discussions we have in your house with your dad’s support. The discussions we had helped me to better understand lessons thought in the week at School.
Again, I will miss the cooking competition your mum organizes for un Sundays after church. Judy, I have learned how to cook several meals through this and wished this could continue but the scholarship is going to interrupt the fun and learning in mum’s kitchen.
However, I am hopeful that, in about two years, we will meet again to continue where we left off.
Kindly send my greetings to your dad for the pieces of advice he always shared with me and take care of Shaggy your pet dog.
Please continue to be a good girl while I am away.
Yours sincerely,
Akosua
