BECE Graduates reopening date for SHS1 out ahead of BECE results

The Ghana Education Service has released the reopening date for JHS graduates who sat for the WAEC-administered BECE examination in October. These candidates will be reporting to school as first-year students in one of the over 900 Free SHS educational institutions if they pass the BECE and are placed.

 

BECE Graduates reopening date for SHS1 out ahead of BECE results

 

According to the released reopening date for SHS1 captured in the 2023 academic calendar, the BECE graduates who will become form 1 students will reopen the school as follows.

  • Form 1 students will re-open on 20th February 2023 and go on break on 21st April 2023.
  • Form 1 students will go on vacation from 5th August 2023 through to 1st October 2023.
  • Form 1 students will resume on 2nd October 2023 and end the Semester on 22nd December 2023.

 

Note that the results for the 2022 BECE have been projected to be released in January 2023 by GhanaEducation.Org.

The release of the result will be followed by the school placement.

What the above dates for reporting schools mean is that the Ghana Education Service and Free SHS Secretariat will most likely release the 2022 School placement latest 14th February 2023. Usually, students report to school a week after the release of the school placement.

When the school placement is released, the candidate will have to print out the placement documents and fill them out. In addition, they will need passport pictures.

The completed forms will have to be sent to the school for the prospectors. Once all the requirements are met, the students will be required to report to school to start their secondary school education journey as first-year or form 1 students.
