Biography of Bola Tinubu – All You Need to Know

Bola Ahmed Adekunle Tinubu, popularly known as Bola Tinubu, is a Nigerian politician and former Governor of Lagos State and now the President-elect of Nigeria. He was born on March 29, 1952, in Lagos, Nigeria.
Tinubu studied at St. John’s Primary School, Aroloya, Lagos, and Children’s Home School in Ibadan before attending the Chicago State University in the United States, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting in 1979. He then went on to obtain a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the same institution.
Tinubu began his political career in 1992 when he was elected to the Nigerian Senate, representing the Lagos West constituency on the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP). He later became a founding member of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) and was elected Governor of Lagos State in 1999 under the party’s platform.
As Governor, Tinubu implemented various policies aimed at transforming Lagos State into a model mega-city, such as the introduction of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the establishment of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), and the creation of a new administrative division called Eti-Osa Local Government Area.
Tinubu was re-elected as Governor of Lagos State in 2003, and his administration continued to implement various development projects, such as the construction of the Lekki-Epe Expressway, the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, and the expansion of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
After his tenure as Governor, Tinubu became a prominent figure in Nigerian politics, serving as the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and playing a major role in the party’s victory in the 2015 Presidential election. He has also been credited with helping to shape the political landscape of Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.
In addition to his political career, Tinubu is a successful businessman and entrepreneur. He is the founder and chairman of The Tinubu Group, a conglomerate of companies involved in various sectors, including real estate, media, and agriculture.
Tinubu has received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to Nigerian politics and development, including the prestigious “Pillar of African Politics” award from the African Leadership Magazine in 2018.
