BREAKING: New Reopening Date for All Basic Schools and Senior High Schools Announced
The Ghana Education Service (GES) changed when basic and senior high schools will reopen in January 2023.
After the academic calendar was released, the Ghana Education Service (GES) management announced a new date for basic and senior high schools to reopen for the 2022/2023 school year.
Second Cycle Schools
SHS 3: Tuesday, 10th January 2023
SHS 2: Tuesday, 10th January 2023
SHS 1: Till further notice
Basic Schools
Tuesday, 10th January 2023
The Senior High School dates are the only ones that have changed. They were the first ones to say anything on January 9, 2023. On the other hand, the 9th of January is a holiday. Because of this, the date for both day students and borders has been moved to the next day.
The full calendar for the 2023 academic year for public pre-tertiary schools will be posted on the MoE/GES websites and other social media handles.
As Covid-19 seems to be on the rise again, GES also wants to make sure that all students are safe. Everyone in school is told to wear masks when they are needed to keep them safe.
