On Sunday, 10th September, 2023, Ghanaians received very shocking news about Ghanaian singer, Wendy Shay. She was involved in a near-fatal accident in Accra.

The incident, according to an eyewitness, occurred a few minutes after midnight on Sunday, September 10, 2023, on the ACP Estate and Kwabenya stretch in Accra.

“Between the ACP Junction and the Kwabenya stretch, you know the road is usually clear at night, and so the cars are usually at top speed, even though there is police presence on the road.

A short distance away from the KNUST Accra Campus Junction, coming out of the valley, I saw people gathered around a car.

So, I decided to park and see what was happening. Upon checking, I realized a lady was coming out of a car. She had dreadlocked hair just like Wendy Shay.

So, I said, let me rush and see, and upon getting closer, I saw it was Wendy Shay.

The Wrangler she was using has a custom registration, ‘Shay.’ Quickly, I got closer to her and asked her what was happening.

She said she can’t talk much, as she’s in severe pain in the head because she hit her head on the dashboard,” Deputy News Editor of UTV, Prince Obimpeh, said in a live interview on United ShowBiz.

As for how the accident occurred, the eyewitness said the artiste collided with a tipper truck loaded with sand, which was facing her direction after she attempted to evade the truck.

The eyewitness said that she was fine, however, she complained of a headache and was rushed to the hospital. Looking at her situation when sent to the hospital, she will be fine.

Wendy Shay was born on 20 February 1996 in Accra, a suburb of the Greater Accra Region of Ghana.

After the death of her father, she relocated to Stuttgart, Germany with her three siblings.

Wendy’s love of music grew after she lost her father when she was four years old.

She attended Morning Star School and St Martin de Porres in Accra before relocating to Stuttgart where she continued her education from grade 7 (JHS 1). She also attended a music school in Bernhausen in Germany

Wendy Shay is a trained Nurse by profession and worked as a Midwife in the clinical field. She worked as a midwife until she moved to Ghana to pursue her musical dreams.

She was introduced to music by Rufftown Records Manager Bullet and signed in January 2018 after the untimely death of label mate Ebony Reigns.

On 1 June 2018, Wendy Shay released her debut single “Uber Driver”, produced by MOG Beatz. The song was released together with the official video the same day.
