At a brief ceremony at the Central Coordinating Council (RCC), the minister claimed that the cars, which were provided by the Ministry of Education through GETFund, came on time to handle the variety of logistical challenges they were having.
That, she said, would go a long way toward enhancing the logistical assistance that officials in various SHSs require to carry out their missions, as well as transforming the face of education in the area.
“The vehicles presented would help address some of these challenges we encounter in schools and also help to transform the face of education in the region,” she said.
She urged authorities to ensure students have access to the vehicles to improve upon learning outcomes.
Mrs Martha Owusu Agyemang, the Regional Director of Education, commended the government for its help and sought additional logistics to enable schools to work successfully.
She noted in a speech read on her behalf that most schools in the region still needed automobiles to keep up with day-to-day administration, but that they were limited by a shortage of vehicles.
“We have 76 schools in the region and by far, about 30 have received such support. We wish to appeal to the government to continue with such support for the rest of the schools to enable them properly function.”
Madam Cecilia Adzo Wofesor, the immediate past Central Regional Chairman of the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), who received the cars on behalf of the region’s headmasters, urged authorities to put them to good use.
She added that authorities should ensure that the vehicles were kept in good condition.
