Christian Atsu Wife: Who Is Marie-Claire Rupio?
Christian Atsu, a gifted football player from Ghana, has been confirmed dead.
Ghanaian professional footballer Christian Atsu played for both the Ghanaian national team and Turkish Süper Lig club Hatayspor.
He was used as an attacking midfielder, but he primarily played as a winger. Atsu started his professional career with Porto and also spent a year on loan at Rio Ave.
According to reports, Christian Atsu perished as a result of the earthquake that struck Turkey on February 6, 2023.
After his lifeless body was found, his agent confirmed his death.
His playing career began in his home nation before he moved on to play for various clubs in Europe. On January 10, 1992, Atsu was born in Ghana’s Ada Foah.
Atsu started his youth career at Feyenoord Fetteh in Ghana, where scouts from FC Porto in Portugal took notice of him.
He enrolled in FC Porto’s youth academy in 2009 and worked his way up the ranks before making his senior debut in 2011–12.
Atsu spent time on loan at Rio Ave and Vitesse Arnhem while he was playing for Porto. In 2014, he assisted Rio Ave in making it to the Portuguese Cup final, where they fell to Benfica.
He was an important member of the Vitesse squad that won the Dutch Cup in 2016–17.
Atsu was signed by Premier League team Chelsea in the summer of 2013 after his performances at Vitesse caught their attention.
At Stamford Bridge, he had trouble getting playing time, so he was loaned out to a number of teams, including Everton, Bournemouth, Malaga, and Newcastle United.
Atsu finally found some consistency at Newcastle United, where he was instrumental in the team’s 2016–17 promotion to the Premier League.
He remained a consistent member of the team up until his release at the conclusion of the 2020–21 campaign.
When the tragic earthquake struck Turkey, where he was playing, Christian Atsu perished. On February 6, 2023, he passed away.
Christian Atsu passed away at age 31.

Christian Atsu’s widow Marie-Claire Rupio is still alive. Since 2012, they had been married.
Marie-Claire Rupio and Christian Atsu met in Portugal and fell in love. They were blessed with three children after getting married in 2012.
