Countries & Companies with the best paid workers maternity leaves

In many parts of the world, maternity leave is enjoyed often by women and not men. There are always country-specific laws that govern how employers are to calculate the maternity leave to be enjoyed by women who deliver. While many countries offer up to 3 months of maternity leave or even less in private firms, there are countries where maternity leave goes beyond one year.

In countries like Ghana, there are many private businesses that offer less than two months maternity leave for their staff. This is an illegal practice yet, most people are not informed or are timid to demand their full maternity leave for fear that they will lose their jobs.

Below are the days of paid maternity leaves offered to workers in specific countries. This means that nursing mothers are paid until they return to work. Very often where there are complications or serious health issues after birth, doctors may increase the number of days a mother should stay away from work to take care of her newborn baby.
