In many parts of the world, maternity leave is enjoyed often by women and not men. There are always country-specific laws that govern how employers are to calculate the maternity leave to be enjoyed by women who deliver. In countries like Ghana, there are many private businesses that offer less than two months maternity leave for their staff. This is an illegal practice yet, most people are not informed or are timid to demand their full maternity leave for fear that they will lose their jobs.
