Download 2024 BECE Sample Questions released by WAEC

Ghana Education News is excited to announce the release of the 2024–2030 Sample Questions for the Common Core Curriculum by the West African Examination Council.

The released sample questions are based on the new curriculum, which Ghana will use for the first time to assess junior high school leaving students.

The released sample questions will serve as a guide and revision material for teachers and learners at the basic school level for the 2024 BECE and beyond.

Before the sample questions were released, NaCCA also released its own sample questions for candidates and teachers. It is prudent to document that, to a large extent, there appears to be a slight difference between the questions provided by NaCCA and those released by the examining body.

The examining body WAEC appears to still follow the direct question approach, with a few simple-to-understand application questions compared to NaCCA, Education-News Consult, and other small examining bodies offering mock services.

To make it easy for teachers, schools, and learners to have the full set of the WAEC’s 2024–2030 Sample Questions for Common Core Curriculum, we have attached the files for download in this publication.

In order to prepare for the BECE that WAEC will administer from July 8 to July 12, 2024, learners, teachers, and schools must carefully study the materials.

We also advise teachers to reference the last two WAEC examiner reports for the subjects they teach to help them work on their candidates and resolve weaknesses outlined in the 2020 and 2021 WAEC Chief Examiner’s reports. This will go a long way towards making their preparation better and more purposeful.

The examination structure for the core subjects:

Each subject will have 40 objective test questions.

Section B of the examination will test students using story problems, case studies, and application questions.

For each subject, WAEC has carefully provided sample questions for both sections A and B. WAEC has often provided additional information about the scoring breakdown for core subjects.
