Ghana Army Helicopter Carrying Defense Minister, Others Crashes In The Asante Region.
A close source in the Ghana Army has confirmed that the helicopter at the center of the rumoured crash somewhere in the Ashanti Region was assigned to the Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah.
There were other persons too on the plane, as confirmed by an official statement by the Ghana Armed Forces.
Helicopter caught fire and crashed per an eye writness account from Myjoyness report. The sad incedent happened at Adansi Akrofuom.
Minister for Defence, Dr Omane Boamah, has unfortunately passed away in the tragic helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region today.
Per reports reaching Ghana EducationNews, the Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, has also passed away.
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) earlier reported that its airforce helicopter. Z9 that took off this morning at 0912 hrs from Accra and headed for Obuasi is currently off the radar.
Eight people were on board—3 crew members and 5 passengers.
According to eye witnesses, they rushed to the scene but could only see persons who had arms and legs they rest were in flames. Reliable information is that there were 3 crews 5 passengers on board.
