Easter Break For All SHS In Ghana
All Senior High School (SHS) students are expected to go on break for the 2024 Easter Holidays, just as it was done last year, 2023. SHS students may go on a non-compulsory break.
This means students will be given an opportunity to go home to celebrate the Easter Holidays. However, schools will be open for students who wouldn’t want to go home. These students will be served three times a day.
The holiday break is likely to begin on Friday, March 29th, and end on Monday, April 1st, 2024.
It should be noted that the Ghana Education Service (GES) is expected to release statement on whether students would be allowed to go on break this year for the Easter Holidays.

What Is Easter?
Easter is a Christian holiday that celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, as described in the New Testament of the Bible. It is considered the most important and oldest festival of the Christian Church. Easter is preceded by Lent, a 40-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance, and it culminates with Holy Week, which includes events like Maundy Thursday (commemorating the Last Supper), Good Friday (commemorating the crucifixion of Jesus), and finally Easter Sunday (celebrating the resurrection).
The significance of Easter lies in the belief that Jesus’ resurrection represents the triumph of life over death and salvation for humanity. It’s a time of spiritual reflection, joy, and renewal for Christians around the world. Additionally, Easter is often associated with various cultural and secular traditions, such as egg decorating, egg hunts, and the Easter Bunny, which vary by region and family customs.
