WAEC’s denial of WASSCE paper leakage was expected – EduWatch Programs officer

Ghana Education News| WAEC’s denial of WASSCE paper leakage was expected according to Kwasi Nimo Jnr, a programme officer at Education Think Tank, Africa Education Watch. According to him the West African Examination Council’s (WAEC’s) denial of the leaking of the Food and Nutrition practical was expected.
WAEC’s denial of WASSCE paper leakage and EduWatch Position
Ghana’s WAEC chief, Wendy E. Addy-Lamptey, told the Ghanaian press that the facts laid out by Africa Education Watch regarding the alleged leakage was deceptive and false, and that it was causing worry among applicants
Kwasi Nimo Jnr, however, told UniversNews that WAEC’s denial was expected and that it was extremely disheartening to see them go ahead with the tests while being aware of the leaking in advance of the examinations
His comments came after the WAEC stated that the African Education Watch report on the illegalities employed in conducting the examinations was untrue, an allegation that was denied.
“With WAEC’s response that the questions did not leak and that what leaked in the public domain was the planning session and not the actual paper that was written. We were hoping that the questions were going to be canceled or something was going to come out of WAEC as a directive following our observations to them but that was not the case”. he said.
Since the Ministry of Education is in charge of policy improvements in assessment, Mr. Nimo said that WAEC is not a primary focus of the African Education Watch.

This year, he suggested that they will issue a comprehensive report on the conduct of the WASSCE in 2021. He furthered that, the EduWatch team is focused and is monitoring the WASSCE 2021 and that a full report will be made available just like the Think Tank did after the 2020 examination.
