Emerging Reasons Why SHS 2 Students Will Be Going Home On Friday

Here is the reason why SHS 2 students in double track schools have been given a three-day break to go home on Friday and report back to school on Sunday.

This information was sent through all regional directors of education to all senior high school heads. In the letter, GES made it clear that all SHS 2 students, who are 18 years and above, and are willing to partake in the ongoing limited voter registration exercise should be allowed to go home on Friday, 22nd September, 2023.

Students are therefore expected to report back to school on Sunday, 24th September, 2023. Any student who reports to school late will have a lot of questions to answer.

“The Form two(2) students are granted three (3) days effective Friday, 22nd to Sunday, 24th September, 2023.

“By a copy of this letter Regional Directors of Education are kindly requested to communicate the above to all Heads of Second Cycle institutions within your jurisdiction.”

As you already know, the 2023 Voter registration exercise is ongoing. The deadline for the registration is on 2nd October, 2023. However, latest update from the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission indicates that there is a possibility of a date extension after 2nd September, 2023.

The Electoral Commission added that persons who could not register in 2020 are also eligible to register this year. Also persons who have attained 18 years are those eligible to register.

“Persons who have attained the age of 18 years since the last registration exercise
and those who for one reason or the other did not register in 2020, should visit the District Office where they reside with either their Ghana Card or their Ghana Passport”.

The Electoral Commission added that persons who do not have Ghana Card or a valid passport should present two persons who have voters register to guarantee for the.
