Exchange Our Debts With Climate Interventions- Nana Addo Tells Rich Countries. President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo has urged the rich countries to whom some African countries are indebted to swap their debts with climate interventions. He made this remark whiles reading his speech at this year’s edition of the United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP27, in Egypt.
“I urge those who hold African debts to commit to debt for climate swap initiatives.”, he said.

The President also urged these rich countries to release the $100 billion pledge to help developing countries deal with the impact of climate change. He announced that the government will roll out an initiative of climate intervention that will create more jobs for Ghanaians.
We all know that Ghana’s debt to GDP has exceeded 100 percent. This technically means that Ghana’s debt has exceeded the value of the total output or production of the country such that, all that we get as a country is used to pay the debt.
