“On Wednesday 9th August 2023, the Director-General of GES, Dr Eric Nkansah received a delegation from the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) led by Madam Fatimata Sow Ep Sidibe, the Director, Football for Schools.
“The delegation briefed him on Football for Schools, a FIFA programme designed to contribute to the education, development and empowerment of children through football.
“Good news is that, in addition to promoting targeted life skills and competencies through football for our learners, FIFA will train fifty (50) of our Physical Education teachers and coach educators selected from all 16 regions of our country.
“The Football for Schools programme is a great addition to what we are already doing in our schools and we are confident that the programme will go a long way to identify and nurture young talents from the school system.”
Physical education is an important aspect of the educational curriculum in schools in Ghana. It is designed to train professionals to help children develop and improve upon their physique through activities that focus on the movement of the body parts.
