Finance Minister’s Sister in-law Appointed Deputy Managing Director of Top State Bank
Eno Ofori-Atta, who is married to Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, has been named the Deputy Managing Director of a top state bank.
Mrs. Atta is married to Earl Ofori-Atta, who is the current Finance Minister. Her husband is Earl Ofori-brother. Atta’s She was moved from her job as head of Financial Services at State Insurance Company (SIC), another state company, where she had worked since 2018.
A spot opened up at ADB when Deputy Managing Director Alhassan Yakubu-Tali was promoted to Managing Director after Dr. John Kofi Mensah, who had been in charge of ADB for five years, left on November 30, 2022.
Analysts say that Eno Ofori-Atta is qualified for the job, even though she is related to the Finance Minister. This is because she has a strong resume.
Critics say it seems like only a small group of family members are always considered “qualified” for state jobs.
The website for the ADB says Eno Ofori-Atta has worked in banking and other financial services for more than 20 years.
The website says that Eno Ofori-Atta is “an accomplished professional with over 20 years of experience in banking and financial services, providing strategic leadership, and building high-performance teams across business units and functions at different levels.” She has a lot of experience with business growth, credit administration, risk management, human capital management, the development of business systems, strategic planning, and strengthening internal control systems and processes.
Before joining ADB, Eno was the Group Managing Director for SIC-Financial Services for 5 years, where she led the re-definition of the business strategy, transformational programs, and operational improvements. In her career, she has been the CEO of Payflex Microfinance Company and the Chief Risk Officer for Women’s World Banking in Ghana. She has had a wide range of front-line jobs, such as Branch Operations Manager, Head of Administration and Human Resources, Head of Risk, and Head of Credit Operations. She has a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences (Law and Sociology) from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology,” it said.
