First photos of Christian Atsu’s coffin draped in national flag at KIA
The government delegation that was at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Sunday, February 19, to receive Christian Atsu’s mortal remains was led by Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to reports, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would have led the delegation if he weren’t currently abroad.
Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, the minister of information, the minister of sanitation, and the deputy ministers of sports and foreign affairs were among the other notable attendees in the VIP area of the KIA.
The Turkish Airlines flight that brought him in touched down in Terminal 2 of the KIA, where there was also a powerful delegation from the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Atsu’s coffin was first seen being carried by six soldiers wearing the national colors of red, gold, and green along with the Black Star.
Two priests and an Imam offered prayers after they marched away from the plan and set the coffin on a holder.
The Vice President, Prosper Harrison-Addo, the GFA Secretary General, and the head of the Tswasam family all made speeches after that.
The body was reportedly taken to the 37 Military Hospital after being formally received.
