Forensic pathologist testifies George Floyd died from lack of Oxygen due to officers’ restraint
Investigations and court hearings regarding the death of George Floyd was giving a postive boost as forensic pathologist testifies George Floyd died from asphyxia caused by officers’ restraint.
So far, some 33 witnesses have testified in the on going murder trail of Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer at the center of the trail.
The forensic pathologist report showing George Floyd died from asphyxia caused by officers’ restraint was a testimony filed by two medical experts.
According to the report, the slained man died as a result of being deprived of oxygen and not drugs as was suggested by the defense.
According to the doctors, George Floyd died because he had a low level of oxygen. This damaged his brain the caused his heart to stop functioning according to Dr. Martin Tobin.
Dr. Martin Tobin, the well-known expert who is a specialist in pulmonology and critical care added that Derek Chauvin’s weight was exerted on George Floyd’s left wrist high into his chest which made the pressure applied to serve as a vise which prevent his left lungs from expanding.
Again, Derek Chauvin’s knee on the neck of Floyd further added pressure to his hypopharynx. This further reduced his chances of breathing according to Tobin.
By his explanations based on the forensic pathologist report, Dr. Tobin disagrees with the suggestions posited by the defense that Floyd had an already underlying medical condition; the use of fentanyl led to his death.
Dr. Bill Smock, an emergency physician and forensic medicine specialist gave more insight into what caused the death of Floyd which supported the forensic pathologist report, Dr. Tobin.
According to him, Floyd did not die of drug overdone but rather, he died because, he had “no air left in his body.”
