Deputy Minister for Education-designate, Gifty Twum Ampofo has submitted two education-related bills to parliament to enable TVET students to be captured as beneficiaries of the Free SHS policy.
Since the introduction of the Free SHS policy, TVET students are yet to benefit from it.
Hon. Gifty Twum Ampofo who is a Member of Parliament for Abuakwa North disclosed this before the Parliament Appointments Committee during her vetting and approval.
During the Thursday, June 10, 2021 vetting she said if the career-focused education module is adopted Ghana will be able to develop a generation of agile and fit-for-purpose graduates for the industries.
“Ghanaians perception on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) has been a challenge as, most people think TVET is for the less intelligent and added that another challenge had to do with financing,” she noted.
According to her, the bills have already been sent to the law-making arm of government so that once approved and made a law, the students will also benefit from the popular free SHS policy at the secondary school level.

While answering a question related to comprehensive sex education, the nominee indicated that she does not in any way support it.
