  • Reason: Founders’ Day is a national holiday in Ghana that is celebrated on August 4th. It is a day to commemorate the founding of the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC), which was the first political party in the Gold Coast (now Ghana). The UGCC was founded on August 4, 1947, by a group of Ghanaians who were inspired by the independence movements that were taking place in other parts of Africa.
  • Spirit: The spirit behind Founders’ Day is to celebrate the achievements of the founding fathers of Ghana and to reflect on the country’s progress since independence. It is also a day to reaffirm the commitment to democracy and freedom.
