Friday 4^th August Declared Public Holiday by the Minister for the Interior, Hon. Ambrose Dery. The Friday 4^{th of} August holiday is to mark Ghana’s Founders Day which was moved from 21^st September by the Nana Addo-led government as a way of including all other individuals who contributed to the struggle of independence in diverse ways.

Per the press release dated 26^th July 2024, Friday 4^th August is a statutory public holiday and should be observed as such throughout the country.

The Ministry of the Interior in Ghana has declared Friday, August 4, 2023, as a statutory public holiday to commemorate Founders’ Day.

• Reason: Founders’ Day is a national holiday in Ghana that is celebrated on August 4th. It is a day to commemorate the founding of the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC), which was the first political party in the Gold Coast (now Ghana).
