GES Breaks SHS for 2024 Election for Staff and Students
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially confirmed that Senior High School staff and students will break on 5th December 2024 for the upcoming Presidential and Parliamentary elections scheduled for December 7th nationwide.
This was contained in a letter dated 29th November 2024.
“As the nation prepares to vote in the upcoming general election, we hereby direct schools to close on Thursday, December 5th, 2024, to allow staff and eligible student voters to exercise their right to vote on December 7,” the letter stated.
Regional Directors are instructed to ensure that Heads of Second Cycle Schools strictly adhere to the directive, allowing staff and students to travel to their respective constituencies to cast their votes.
The GES also noted that the break for SHS staff and students during the 2024 elections will provide teachers who serve as electoral officers of the Electoral Commission (EC) ample time and space to work with the EC during the election process.
