GES Confirms Friday 28th March A Public Holiday for Public Schools

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially confirmed and declared Friday, March 28, 2025, a public holiday for all public schools. The holiday is part of GES’ programme for the 2025 National Continous Professional Development (CPD) Day.
According to the GES, all public pre-tertiery schools should be closed down on the day to enable all teachers to fully participate in the training programme for the day.
This directive affects all learners in public basic schools (KG to Basic 9) and all public second cycle schools. The directive did not exclude senior high schools; hence, such schools are affected.
While educators have welcomed the news, the late update for teachers and heads has been a major concern since schools closed before the information was confirmed by the GES. The lack of proactive communication of such information means most learners are likely to report to school tomorrow.
