Government gives date to commission ‘historic’ 80 educational projects
The government has scheduled November 21, 2024, for the commissioning of 80 educational projects in a bid to transform the country’s education sector.
In a social media post sighted by GhanaEducation.org, the Ministry of Education said the historic commission of the educational projects will commence from 10:00 AM to 12 noon.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and the Minister in Charge of Education Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum are guests for the projects commission.
Announcing the date for the historic commissioning of the projects, the Minister for Education said “Join me as we witness the grand commissioning of over 80 schools across the country on Thursday 21st November 2024.”
He said the commissioning of the over 70 schools in the country on November 21, 2024, will be televised live on various local television stations and social media platforms including Facebook.
“This event is to showcase what Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the President of the Republic and Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia have led the transformation of education in a very fascinating way,” he said in a video.
The Education Minister who first hinted about the 80 educational projects commissioning said it forms part of the government efforts to phase out dilapidated school buildings across the country.
In an interview, Dr Osei Adutwum also said the government in due course will launch a Basic (B) STEM programme for Junior High Schools (JHSs).
The Education Minister said the Basic Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics or B STEM programme for Junior High Schools will be launched in early November 2024.
Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum, speaking on Metro TV’s Good Evening Ghana (GEG) said the move forms part of the central government effort to upgrade government Junior High Schools in the country.
